THE WELL NATURALLY - Code of Conduct For Holistic Buteyko Breath Therapists
This code of conduct lays down guidelines as well as some fundamental principles that Buteyko group members must adhere to.
1. a The clients’ welfare is always the Buteyko group member practitioner’s utmost priority.
1. b Before treatment clients will know what the charge is for each session.
1. c If there is the slightest doubt as to the suitability of the client for treatment in a method, it is the member practitioner’s duty to seek out an authoritative opinion.
1. d All information provided by the client shall be held in confidence. The client will be informed that the information provided may only be passed on to other Buteyko group member therapists for assessment.
1. e Clients under the age of eighteen must obtain signed consent from a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must accompany clients under the age of sixteen. Clients aged between sixteen and eighteen can only be seen alone with prior consent of a parent or guardian.
1. f Buteyko group members will at all time respect the dignity of the client, incorporating:
Respecting clients rights
Explanation of method
Avoidance of behaviour which could be deemed exploitative.
1. g Buteyko group members are required to keep any client written confidential material in a safe place.
1. h Buteyko group members are required to be ethical regarding client fees.
1. I Buteyko group members are required to hold appropriate Practice Insurance.
1. j Buteyko group members are required to discuss the possibility of other complementary treatments
1. k Buteyko group members must not directly advise clients to alter their medically prescribed medication and must at no time instruct a client to stop their prescribed steroid medication.
1. l Buteyko group members must not advise clients to do Maximum Pauses
2. a Buteyko group members will not act unethically.
2. b Buteyko group members shall be willing to keep up to date with developments of their chosen field and be willing to share findings.
2. c Buteyko group members are required to work with the ‘Well Naturally Group’ regarding any complaints.
2. d Buteyko group members will refrain from denigrating other therapies.
2. e Buteyko group members have a personal responsibility toward there own health and well being. Obviously this applies to setting a good example, with practicing what one does preach.
2. f Buteyko group members shall where possible be willing to work with other therapists for the well being of the client.
3. a Buteyko group members are required not to make false statements.
3. b Buteyko group members are asked to make sure all advertising statements are truthful.
3. c Buteyko group members are encouraged to give talks to their local community
4. a Any Buteyko group members found to have flouted any of the above may be punished with any of the following
Please note 4.a 4 and 4.a 5 may be implemented immediately if 1.k and or 1.l have been flouted.
5 a ‘Well naturally’ will endeavour to look after its Buteyko group members interests, it also aims to help support its members and promote other therapies they offer. By working as a group it hopes to encourage more use of alternative complementary therapies to work in a holistic way.
5. b ‘Well Naturally’ will continually offer suitable support to its Buteyko group members including technical help, relevant advice and promotion through Group Advertising.
5. c ‘Well Naturally’ as a company will not be held responsible for individual ‘gross errors’
5. d The ‘Well Naturally Group ‘reserves the right to amend the code of conduct with good reason but without notice.
